Finding My Cadence

NationalAnthem2

This post is the 15th of 15. We are writing our way through our youth over at Mommy's Piggy TALES. Check it out! :) The year I graduated high school was a very eventful year, and it sparked a whirlwind that has only recently begun to calm. That year, I went back to Nashville with Brooke to attend the Dove Awards & GMA Week. That was also the year that I started making some very poor decisions. I had become involved with a guy who was much older than me. My parent's weren't very sure … [Read more...]

Singing From the Mountaintop

Standing in the Tribecca Hallway

Wow so once again I've had a ridiculously eventful week. And hopefully I'm done with it. To all of my wonderful friends in this Recording Your Youth adventure, I'm so sorry that I didn't get to read/comment on more of y'alls posts. I'd love to go back and read some of them in the next few months. I'll explain in my next post what all has happened, because it's too scary, and too big an ordeal to put with this post. So here goes. This post is the 14th of 15. We are writing our way through … [Read more...]

Singing Through the Year

Amanda-and-Les-Brown

So sorry this post is late. It's been an exhausting & stressful week, waiting to find out if I'd have to leave and drive all the way back to TX by myself, with 2 small children. Yesterday 1 party settled, and today the 2nd party will be settling. So this is almost over.  Hallelujah! This post is the 13th of 15. We are writing our way through our youth over at Mommy's Piggy TALES. Check it out! :) The year I turned 16 was a very full year. I started singing at the church frequently. … [Read more...]

In Harmonies of Me

This post is the 12th of 15. We are writing our way through our youth over at Mommy's Piggy TALES. Check it out! :) Well ladies, we're nearing the end. It's been a blast! A struggle some weeks, but a blast nonetheless. :) Many things have changed throughout my life...my hair length, my hair color, my fashion sense (or lack thereof), my abilities, my dreams, my location, but one thing has never changed. I've always loved music. When I was a child I sang for my Nanny, and she said I should be a … [Read more...]

Scrapbooking Through China

I apologize in advance. This post isn't very long, but I will make up for it with the next few posts. For anyone keeping up with my situation, I was granted temporary custody of Jewel, pending a settlement or final hearing in September. I was granted permission to leave the state of TX (where the hearing is), and return to my home state of GA. Jewel & I have been thoroughly enjoying ourselves, however we all caught a summer cold. Due to the colds, I've been quite busy taking care of a 4 … [Read more...]

Cleopatra & the Hungarian Dances

This post is the 10th of 15. We are writing our way through our youth over at Mommy's Piggy TALES. Check it out! :) When I was 13, the grand occasion was celebrated with a panda cake. I couldn't believe it! My Mom figured out how to make black icing, and had made a panda cake, just for me. I was given more nail polish, and lovely things to make young ladies smell good. I received my very fragrance, Vanilla Fields. It was a year filled with friendships & adventures.  My young friend  had … [Read more...]

Aztecs, Egyptians & a Seasick Giraffe

This post is the 9th of 15. We are writing our way through our youth over at Mommy's Piggy TALES. Check it out! :) When I was a kid, I never understood other kids who didn't like to go to school. We always studied the most fascinating things. Don't get me wrong, there were subjects I hated (ask my Mom how much I cried over algebra!) but overall I loved school. Whatever era of history we studied, we studied all aspects. During ancient times we studied Egyptians, Greeks, Romans. Later we … [Read more...]

Bros Before…Mean Girls

This post is the 8th of 15. We are writing our way through our youth over at Mommy's Piggy TALES. Check it out! :) When I was 11, I got to learn about making difficult choices. I'd made a friend the year before, who I'll call Jessie. Jessie lived across the way from me, and came over nearly every day. Every once in a while, I would go over to hers. I enjoyed the freedom of being allowed to go to her house, but I never liked her house as much. There were some fun things about it...they had … [Read more...]

Being the Weird Ones

Biscuits

This post is the 7th of 15. We are writing our way through our youth over at Mommy's Piggy TALES. Check it out! :) At 10 I was feeling around for a sense of individuality. For my 10th birthday I got my ears pierced. With that new look I wanted other changes, so I asked for my hair to be cut short. So my Mom cut it in sort of a slightly longer shag look. I loved it. I thought I looked like one of the characters I'd seen on MacGyver. Unfortunately the neighbor boys were bullies, and they … [Read more...]

The Year of Two Births

This post is the 6th of 15. We are writing our way through our youth over at Mommy's Piggy TALES. Check it out! :) The year I turned 9, my 2nd brother & my 4th sibling were born. We joked about Mom having a Christmas Eve baby, but as my Moms babies tend to do, Guitarzan ran late, and he was born later on in January. We were all excited to have a 5th edition to the family, and Booklover was glad not to be the youngest anymore. Enigma was thrilled that there was another boy in the family. … [Read more...]
